Jordan

Jordan is an Islamic state, but its small Christian community has ancient roots that long precede the foundations of Islam. In contrast to many of its neighbors, Jordan is a moderate and safe place, where Christians and Muslims integrate easily at work and in public. The great majority of Catholics in Jordan are said to be Greek Melkite or "Roum" Catholics, with smaller numbers of Latin, Chaldean, Maronite, Armenian and Syrian rite Catholics. But Christians of any denomination feel free to worship at different Orthodox or Catholic rite churches, often chosen for their proximity and the community they find there.
